Jan. 18th 2010 – Meeting with Rebecca Chmeilowiec

I am very excited to start this project. Rebecca Chmeilowiec is the “frontlady” for a symphonic rock band called Moon Rooster. Dave L and I did the initial demo and the first full length for Moon Rooster in 2009. After the fact, Rebecca came to me and wanted to put together a solo project of some songs she wrote. I of course accepted! Her goal is to pitch these songs to artists, and hopefully retire! lol. I take a lot of pride and joy in helping artists reach their goals, so this is a very exciting project. She came to me with lyrics and a few melodies. My job is to construct the music, record, and mixdown these tunes to have them ready to be pitched. I will be performing most of the instruments, along with a few friends, and tracking the majority at my home studio in Matthews. Drum tracks will be done by Brian Thompson in Florida and shipped up here via the net. Brian is great at getting drum sounds and playing this type of music. The final mixdown will be done at Old House in Gastonia. At our meeting, I got the hear the rough layout and melody of each song. “Turn the Other Cheek” was the first one she showed me. It’s a great country style ballad with a strong  message. It’s a very “strong women country” tune.  The other song is entitled “Love is Blind”. This is the one I am really stoked about doing. It has this straight up 50′s pop vibe to it. I plan on incorporating that 50′s sound with a modern country feel, so that I can bring it up to date. It will be a fun challenge! I will keep everyone posted on this project. We are planning to break ground sometime in March. Have a great day everyone! I am off to a show tonight to run sound!
