TRADITION! Good evening everyone (or all 12 people that read this). This upcoming weekend is going to be slammed. Nova Coda will be coming in to do some tracking. Tricia Andreassan will be laying down vocals and building a new single along with an all day video shoot for Moon Rooster on Saturday, and wrapping up with 3 mixing sessions Sunday. Whoo baby! From 9 am Friday to 9pm Sunday, don’t call me lol. Kidding of course, but I probably won’t be able to answer. To get prepared for the video shoot I had to go scope out the spot!
So here is what’s going down.. Moon Rooster is a Symphonic Rock Band here in Charlotte that has done a lot of work with me. They have a very artsy, advanced, and classic vibe. We have discussed their marketing plan over the past few months and they have decided to do a sort of “teaser” video to pass on to booking agents, A&R, etc. Kyle Jones in going to come down and do the video side of things along with a few assistants, and I will be handling the audio portion. Basically the band is going to run through a “mini set” with both originals and covers. We will multitrack the audio and do a multi-shot video. It will be an intimate setting. No audience will be involved. That way we can do multiple takes and treat it like a recording session if need be. The goal is to provide Moon Rooster with some treated and well put together footage to display themselves to people who can further their career.
The site we have selected is an old cotton mill that has been converted into condos. Twins Gary Cooley (keys) and Terry Cooley (keys) live here. It is a beautiful place to live. I was blown away by how cool this place was. On the property is an old rec room (shown below). It has brick walls, high (wood) ceilings, and plenty of space. I feel that it will work just fine, but we will just have to see! There is a whole heap of furniture in there for us to use. I’d like to set up a simple “living room” scene around the band with minimal lighting. Maybe toss in some candles and hang paintings just to add a classy touch. Our goal is to sort of match the scene to the laid back and sophisticated vibe of the band. I will keep you posted throughout the process and show you when it is complete.
